DIVERSITY IN STONE
IL CASONE AND BUDRI WITH UAINOT ARCHITECTS FOR “ABITARE IL TEMPO” AND “MARMOMACC” 2010

Kengo Kuma, Claudio Silvestrin, Francesco Steccanella, and Gianluca Rossi together with the Uainot studio in Bologna; these are the architects who in recent years have interpreted the Il Casone company concept. In works of refined quality, the result of a wonderful combination of architecture and design, they have managed to perfectly show off the quality of the stone quarried and worked by this leading company in the stonework sector. This has often involved reusing discarded materials but increasingly adopting new processes which exploit their inherent potential and make sure that no materials ever go to waste.
For the two trade fairs held this year in Verona, Abitare il Tempo and Marmomacc 2010, Il Casone decided to develop its range available to the public thanks to a brilliant joint project with Budri, the company from Modena at the forefront of marble and stone casings.
The new challenge is the project’s association with the 2010 International Year of Biodiversity announced by the United Nations. Safeguarding the planet’s biological diversity means focusing on a new objective and subject of communication, demonstrating that even this sector can contribute to this goal of defending life.
These are the starting points from which “Uainot Architetti” planned the 2010 showcase for Il Casone and Budri.
The new design transforms the concept of “biodiversity” into “diversity of stone”. In the new space, the fundamental importance of the stone is faced with a real “bio-challenge”, as the designer himself defines it when describing the process which has given concrete form to his creative idea, made possible by the professionalism of Il Casone and Budri supplying valuable materials, and by the work and assembly of the surfaces, by the expertise of the Corradi group in the modelling of the furnishings and by the experience of Martinelli Luce in lighting.
The stone once again is stretched to its limits by building on previous experiences connected to “lightness”, “flexibility” and “skin-like surfaces”, the themes pursued by the companies and architects during the last three editions of Marmomacc meets Design.
