New York City

New York’s close ties with the exceptional qualities of Italian stone is confirmed by the growing trend in commercial architecture. The preference, evident in exemplary works for the city such as Philip Johnson’s Lincoln Centre on the edge of Central Park, is today frequently extended to showroom interiors, designed with a timeless and monumental feel with echoes of the Italian classical style.
The rest, along with the brand’s image requirements, is perceptive choice, which is why the natural material used in generous thicknesses is effectively reassuring. The emphasis of the project falls on the chromatic characteristics of the polished giallo etrusco, a sandstone with a golden hue, embraced by the fashion atelier perhaps in search of a uniform backdrop for women’s footwear. It is this warm and welcoming shade which does not interfere with the colours of the products, that makes the visitor’s experience so pleasurable and even possibly durable. The slabs have a polished finish, while the colours and solid, reassuring elements do not take away the purity of the lines, but instead make for a minimal geometrical design.
The application of stone is not just limited to the floor area, but is raised to create steps and furnishings where visitors can sit and rest, producing shadows upon the uniform stone surface. Pale-coloured sealing joints, together with the non aseptic hues of the cladding and choices of lighting elements, overall, convey nothing but a sensation of warmth.
That extra little something is given by the fact that the spaces of this Italian designer boutique located abroad, is fitted out with national materials.
