This book takes it cue from the collaboration between IL CASONE and Kengo Kuma at the Marmomacc 2007 exhibition. The Japanese architect designed the company’s stand, which subsequently won first prize in the category, Best Communicator Award.
The author, Luigi Alini, analyses the Stone Pavilion in pietra serena, presenting it as an exemplar of Kuma’s work, shown in comparison with the previous stone works of the Japanese master. He makes us aware of the existence in the material of important, unexplored, inexhaustible structures, which go beyond the representation of the traditional and the already seen. In this case, the focus of attention is on the unusual theme of the lightness of stone obtained through the construction the labyrinth, reinforced by the elegant and novel openwork walls.
This book is the first published work in the LITHOS series promoted by IL CASONE and directed by Alfonso Acocella.
