Pelle, Skin and Texture are the themes of the 2008 edition of “Marmomacc Incontra il Design” (Marmomacc Meets Design) which is an annual event that brings together leading designers from the top firms working in stone.  This specific theme will stimulate creativity in identifying new ways of utilizing this traditional material.  This concrete and continuous initiative between the creative world and that of construction, culminates in an award called the “Best Communicator Award” which was won last year by IL CASONE for their stand designed by the world renowned Kengo Kuma.

This year it is Claudio Silvestrin who has been selected by IL CASONE to define an innovative and original project and it’s unveiling in highly anticipated among industry leaders.
Silvestrin’s theme for the project brings together the concept of an orange peel and its unique surface to with stone and allows him to examine various creative ideas which are fundamental for his work.  That is, the beautifully natural aspects of the material, the horizontal plane and a clear sense of direction.  The metaphor of the orange rind is an important one for the project for as the orange is peeled and the search for the truth progresses so does the journey to the heart of the material.

The arrival at the heart of the stand metaphorically represents the conclusive ending of the journey taking by those who investigate the composition of specific materials such as stone.
This grandeur and importance of this project therefore is not limited to only the unique vision of the material, but to their placement and discovery.
