Fuori Salone, 2009. IL CASONE stone in the temporary bar, Elle Decor Café
Milan, 22-27 April

Once again this year, on the occasion of the Fuori Salone, IL CASONE stone will be on display in the rooms of Elle Decor Café, the temporary bar set up by the magazine, Elle Décor (published by Hachette Rusconi), in the rooms of the Diadora showroom in Via Tortona, 27. As in 2008, the project has been created by the Frassinago Lab studio, which has chosen environmental sustainability as this year’s theme. Ecosustainability, therefore, that is not just genuine, closely linked as it as to the choices made by companies that are sensitive to this issue, and therefore to recyclable/recycled/reusable/modular objects, including energy-saving lighting techniques; it is also sustainability that can be perceived, thanks to specific choices in the colour scheme and materials that emphasise these characteristics in the mind’s eye of visitors.
True to this, the fittings will be in felt, aluminium, cardboard, methacrylate and recyclable metals. However, above all, it will be the natural materials that best display the underlying thread of sustainability, specifically wood and stone. The interior floorings, in fact, will be in white oak from Italy, while the exterior flooring sees the use of IL CASONE’S Pietra Serena, with a horizontal, slatted cut, almost suggesting a “wood effect.” A deliberate choice, in order to really emphasise the natural aspect of the stone, as is also displayed in the alternating bush-hammered and sandblasted finishing, the juxtaposition of rolled sheaves of turf.
The transient atmosphere recreated inside the Diadora showroom will convey the sensation of an environment fashioned in harmony with nature, with no artifice save that of the expertise of companies and designers in interpreting the material itself in creating functional objects.
